23 Nov 11
Tax manager Rachel Metcalfe completed her sixth Great North Run last month and raised £325 for the Parkinsons Disease Society in the process. She battled soaring temperatures to complete the course in a creditable 2 hours 35 minutes and 7 seconds.
Rachel was joined in the 13.1 mile race by a record 54000 entrants including a host of international celebrities. Ex Police front man Sting officially started the race alongside Ashes-winning cricket star Steve Harmison.
Rachel has now raised over £2000 for the Parkinsons charity through her running and sky-diving exploits.
